Wedding Card Box

Here is a box I did for a friends wedding last weekend. Not much Cricut related but I love how it turned out. I bought the box itself at either Joann's or Mikes - I forget which.  Hubby took all the hardware off and I covered it inside and out with the Bride's colors.  The ribbon and embellishments were actually hand picked by the bride for a future wedding scrapbook page, she didn't know I picked up the same thing to do this box LOL (I'm so sneaky sometimes!  Hubby put the hardware back on and I decorated it and she LOVED it. She used it instead of the bird cage card holder thingy ma bob.  Just wanted to share   Oh - inside it says "Kristen and Phillip July 24, 2010  Two Shall Become One - which was done with the Gypsy and Cricut - but alas, you can't see it and apparently she is too damn busy on her  honeymoon to take a picture for me. :)

Potpourri Basket Cartridge Challenge

Sauni-Rae is the Guest Designer for the Potpourri Basket challange.  This cute Cork Board Frame is a great back to school project.  She says  "I did not paint a frame as I could not find a not painted one so I purchased something close. The only hint I would put in that is different or in addition to the directions is go slowly if you have to cut the cork board as it crumbles. This really was a fun and quick project. I know just who is going to get this as a gift!

Please be sure to stop by her blog and say hello!

Graphically Speaking Cartridge Challenge (another take)

Here is Angji's take on Graphically Speaking..  Same exact card, different look.  Pretty awesome huh?  Angji says:  I did alter it just a bit. I added a border punch and a knot in the bow. It just looked to plain to me!

Please be sure to stop by and see her at Sweet Pineapple Scrapping

Base Camp Cartridge Challenge

Angji is a new Guest Designer who brings us this cute notecard from the Base Camp Binder.  She writes:  This is a quick one but I had to improvise since my vellum and the vellum used were different types. So I used some white craft ink to darken it up a bit.  Please be sure to visit her blog:

Please leave Angji and the other Guest Designers comments under their projects so they know what you think.  They'd love your feedback and so would I.

Zooballoo Cartridge Challenge

Guest Designer Normea Banner brings us another project. This one from the Zooballoo cartridge. I had NO idea it was this cute. Another MUST HAVE.

Normea says:  I made a 5.75 by 5.25 card from the Cricut Zooballoo cartridge. The card was pretty simple & I like how it all came together. Again, I changed the colors from what they used in the handbook, but I think the purple & green design is so cute! I also chose to use a "5" instead of a "4" (most of the kiddies I know are approaching 5, so I'll be able to use this card in the next few months for a birthday). The instructions tell you to cut the frame in, both, black & white and then mix and match the pieces for the effect shown - I chose to cut the frame in white & cut the shadow of the frame in black to give me some overlap to help me assemble the frame better. I really enjoyed tracing around the diecuts. I had never thought to do that & was a little apprehensive about doing it on this card, but I ended up loving the effect on the card.

Please be sure to visit Normea at her blog:  MM Dezigns

Give a Hoot Cartridge Project

Guest Designer Kelli brings us this STINKIN CUTE card from Give a Hoot.  I wasn't sure I wanted this cartridge but now I'm reconsidering.

Kelli says:  It all went smoothly and everything cut out at the recommended size very nicely.  The only thing that was a little
odd was that they said to cut out two owl bases, when I'm almost
positive you really only need one.  It does mention cutting all the
layers so I don't think that's what they were referring to.  Overall, I
think the project was easy and came out super cute!

Please be sure to check out her equally awesome blog:

Graphically Speaking Cartridge Challenge

Guest Designer Kristy sends us this ultra cute card from Graphically Speaking. We actually have TWO guest designers that did this so you'll be able to see two different takes on the same exact project!

Winners!

I'm back from my mini-getaway and had a fantastic time. I wanted to go exploring Scrapbook stores in the area we were in but a nasty t-storm changed our plans.  I am terrified of t-storms - survived 4 hurricanes (Andrew in 92 and Charli/Francis and Jeannie in 04) and I panic everytime a bad one comes near.

Anyway - I had TWO hidden blog candy contests that I hinted around to the last week.  Today I have 2 winners of a Surprise pack of embellishments.

First - from the Fabulous Finds Video - At the end I showed you my Kricut Krazy t-shirt and zoomed in on an item.  If you mentioned that item in a comment, you qualified for the Hidden Blog Candy.    This challenge only had 8 comments which made it super easy to win.  Congrats to:

if i owned a gypsy i could probably learn to manipulate those folder tabs, but i too am astonished at the size of this project!

The other was French Manor.  All you had to do was mention the word "Merci" in the comments to qualify for a Surprise Pack.  There were 22 comments and 17 said "Merci.  The lucky winner is:

NEWS and Babbling

Hey Krazies -

I'll be away for the weekend as I'm attending a wedding.  Debbie Oneal will be posting or answering questions while I'm gone.

I have 4 projects waiting to be uploaded.  Normea Banner, Kristy Luccketta  (2) and Saunirae.  If you sent a project and your name isn't listed here, then please resend it as my gmail was ill yesterday.

Prizes for earlier in the week haven't been sent out (need big ole envelopes) but I'll take care of that Monday along with the 2 new hidden contests that some of you have been lucky enough to find :)

Finally - As a member of the Cricut Circle we could nominate an elementary school to get a Gently used Cricut Expressions.  Despite my entry being submitted Eastern Time and not Mountain, they awarded my nominated school Sigsbee Elementary (now a magnet school) on the US Naval Air Station in Key West Florida. My girls (now 18 and 20) were lucky to go there the 4 years we were stationed there.  YAAAY! Just wanted to share!

Please - check out www.scrappysales.net  she has the most awesome prices and super service. If you don't see something listed in the store, she doesn't have it in stock. She won't do pre-orders so you aren't waiting a coons age.  Check it often as she updates it daily with new stock. However, she is at CHA next week so please bookmark it :)

That's it - have a lovely weekend! Please keep checking back :)

Robotz

Guest Designer Deb brings us another great Binder Project!  She writes:  There are many layers to make this robot but it was fairly easy. My recommendation would be to make sure you follow step by step the project guide for selecting the features for each cut and then you won’t have any trouble.  Also, when layering the cut, be sure and add all the silver pieces first…the other cardstock overlays much of the silver.  I used some Cosmo Cricket  Cogsmo patterned paper and Bazzill cardstock in texture, bling and silver glitter.
This was a fun project to make !

Debbie O’Neal

Happily Ever After

Guest Designer Debbie presents the Happily Ever After project. It is a Snow White Thank You Card.

Tips for this card:  There are lots of little pieces when you cut this project at the 4 ¼ size asked for in the book. You will  need to use your pick tool to help get the smallest pieces out easy from the cardstock.  I also highly recommend you scoop everything up with your cricut spatula and have an area just for laying
the pieces out ready when you start cutting.  The black shadow you create first ends up being Snow White’s
hair…so don’t look for another layer, there isn’t one J  Putting the pieces together was kind of like a puzzle.  I
ended up putting the blue sleeve down first and worked my way to the right from there.  The results were really cute but this project is a little time consuming because of the tiny pieces. Additional tip:  I used my
Gypsy to do a quick search of all carts to find a “Thank You” to use on the card. The one I selected is from the Sweethearts Cartridge and cut at 2” out of black cardstock.

Deb's Eclectic Thoughts

Fabulous Finds

This was an odd little project.  It's a "50" file folder. You are supposed to put 50 of something in it. First, it's very small.  Second, directions tell you to print out 2 folders in different colors then fold the tabs so they are opposite - the tabs are both in the center.  They won't be opposite.  More explanation in the attached video. Let me know what you think of this.

The projects are rolling in!

Hey Krazies!

I've got lots of projects to upload!  Not only did I do one today, but I have a good dozen more to upload from Guest Designers.  Starting tomorrow I will upload mine and then 2 guest designers.  I need to space them out so you keep coming back for more!

Also wanted to let you know that there is a super secret giveaway going on somewhere on the blog. I will draw the winner on Friday.

Tomorrow I will post another super secret giveaway. Please do not spoil the fun and tell everyone if you find it.  I will give you a hint, the super secret giveaway is hidden somewhere in MY project uploads (not guest)  Again there is only one at the moment. The other will be posted tomorrow. Good Luck!

Oh one more secret - I heard from a lil cricket that there will be a very small window of opportunity for folks to join the cricket circle starting next week. Keep your eye out on cricut.com and I'll post it here as well as soon as it's official!

Something exciting is about to take place

Mark your calendars Krazies!  I have been invited to participate in my first ever blog hop!  There will be prizes and inspirations and new blogs to discover!  Don't worry, I'll remind you. I just wanted to give you a peek!

Straight from the Nest

I am so excited about this one. My Guest Designer is Normea Banner.  I was so lucky to meet her when we did our Provo Craft Cricut training together in L.A. back in April. We hung out quite a bit, dined together and basically had lots of fun. We were even table mates during all the training. She's funny and takes things to a "ho nuber lebel" (inside joke just for her XOXO)  She is very creative, please check out her blog as soon as you can - you will be inspired by her. I promise!
M.M. DeZigns

Normea says:  This "Tweetheart Card" from the Straight From The Nestcartridge. The booklet calls for a series of green, cream, pink, & yellow papers and ribbons... well, those aren't really my favorite colors, so I decided to work with what I had and went with black, white, and silver. The project was actually very easy to do and the instructions were very straight forward. I used my Fiskars Rotary Cutter and my Martha Stewart Score Board to make sure all the pieces were properly measured and scored. I also used my ColorBox Cat's Eyepigment ink in black to ink the edges of my paper pieces (I used paper instead of cardstock on the card, using cardstock for the base & for the Cricut cuts). The finished project is a 7"x6" gatefold card. Hope you like it!

Once upon a princess

Alma has done it once again with the Once upon a Princess Cartridge. She writes:  I changed the ribbon because I didn't have any pink with white polka dot kind and also it asked for green tie for the handles so i substituted with black but everything else is according to the book! The gift box was cut at 5 1/2" and the Frog (along with it's layers) at 2". The words Happy Birthday were cut at 1" and the tag at 1 1/2".

Thank you Alma!

Heritage Cartridge Challenge

Kate brings us another Cartridge challenge and I LOVE it!  She says:  Heritage-Family History Book
I used a journal I found in the dollar bin at Michael’s to create this book.  It’s slightly smaller than the memo pad in the handbook, but all the cuts are the same size as listed in the directions.  The cuts are straight forward and easy to follow.  I will warn you that the tree is pretty tiny at 1 ¼in, and I would not attempt to cut it any smaller.  It is a very detailed and intricate cut which requires a lot of weeding…in other words, patience, patience, patience!

Don't forget to check out her blog Sassy and Scrappy

Don Juan Font Cartridge Challenge

Guest Designer Kate Marrs brings us this cutie from the Don Juan Cartridge Binder.    She says:  Don Juan-Window “thanks” Card It is a standard A2 size, or 4.25in by 5.5in.  This is another quick and simple project.  There are a lot of ways to ebellish this card by layering the sentiment, or adding bling or brads in place of the eyelets.  One thing I do want to point out is that in the last direction it states if you have an Expression you can create a matching envelope, sized a 5 ½in.  Unless you are using a 12x24 mat, you cannot make an envelope that big.  The best thing to do would be to cut the envelope first on ‘fit to page’ and see what size it will cut.  Then you would use that number, say it was 5in, for your card and all additional pieces.  Or you can use a pre-made A2 size envelope.

All of the paper and ribbon is from Papertrey Ink and the eyelets are Making Memories.  I hope these projects inspire you to take another look at these cartridges.

Alphalicious Cartridge Challenge

Kate Mars is the Guest Designer for the Alphalicious Font Cartridge Binder Project.  She says:  Alphalicious-Invitation It is a quick and simple project with a lot of potential for personalization.  To embellish the crown I mixed two colors of Doodlebug glitter, lavender and purple, and then put a layer of Glossy Accents over the glitter.

Your opinion matters!

Hi Krazies!

As you can see I just revamped the blog with the help of my graphic genius friend Gold Shoes Tish.  She is a long time friend and sadly is not into paper crafting any more - which is a shame because she does beautiful stuff! Thank you Tish!

I'd like your honest opinion.  Can you leave me a comment on this post and let me know what you think? Is it easy to read? Is the font too large?  What do you think of the banner across the top?  What do you think of the added pages?

A small token of my appreciation will go to one of you who leave a comment. I'll do a drawing and upload a pic of your present sometime during the weekend.

Thank you!

Hugs & Chirps :)

I went to Costco today to get stuff for our party tomorrow and while browsing I saw this mini HD Flip Video camera and remembered the embarrassing quality video I uploaded earlier today.  I was thinking "Wow, I can actually video the Projects instead of taking a still photo.  I figured the Krazies would love videos.  So here you have it. Obsessed with Scrapbooking gives a step by step guide to installing a cool ap on your Iphone, Ipad or Itouch which allows you to download all the manual's (binders) and view them which comes in quite handy for Gypsy Users.  The Application "GoodReader" is only 99 cents and it took me about 15 minutes to set it up and put 85 binders on it.

Check it out!

Cricut Circle box came today!

My very first attempt at a video using my digital camera. As you can see the quality is not that great but I wanted to give you guys a look at me opening it!  Enjoy :)
